Outreach During Open Day at Pakistan Club Kowloon

Outreach During Open Day at Pakistan Club, 3rd August 2025, Pakistan Club Kowloon

Date: 03rd August 2025
Location: Pakistan Club Kowloon

On 3rd August 2025, the Multicultural Health Services (MCHS) team proudly participated in the Open Day event held at Pakistan Club Kowloon. This was a vibrant, family-friendly gathering that brought together members of the Pakistani and wider South Asian community for a day of connection, culture, and community spirit.

Recognising the Open Day as an ideal platform to reach families in a relaxed and welcoming environment, we set up an interactive health information booth offering free consultations, education, and referrals – all delivered with cultural and linguistic sensitivity.

What We Did at Pakistan Club Kowloon

Our team of registered pharmacists and health education officers provided a range of services tailored to the community’s needs:

  • Minor Ailment Service: Attendees received free, face-to-face consultations for common health issues such as colds, seasonal allergies, digestive complaints, and skin conditions – with explanations and advice provided in Urdu, Hindi, and English.
  • Medication Management Counselling: For individuals managing chronic diseases like diabetes, hypertension, and asthma, we offered personalised medication reviews, adherence strategies, side-effect management, and drug interaction prevention advice.
  • Chronic Disease Screening & Education: We shared practical guidance on preventing and managing long-term conditions, including blood pressure awareness, healthy eating habits tailored to South Asian diets, and the importance of regular check-ups.
  • Multicultural Health Ambassador Recruitment: We introduced our Multicultural Health Education Ambassador Training program, inviting motivated community members to become trained peer educators who can share accurate health information within their own social and family networks.
  • Maternal & Child Health Information: Given the family-oriented nature of the Open Day, we also provided guidance on nutrition during pregnancy, infant care, and childhood immunisation schedules – addressing common questions from parents.

Why Open Days Matter for Community Health

Community Open Days are more than just social occasions – they are trusted spaces where families feel safe, relaxed, and open to conversation. By bringing MCHS services to the Pakistan Club Kowloon Open Day, we were able to reach individuals who might never visit a hospital or clinic unless absolutely necessary.

This approach aligns perfectly with our core mission: Diversity, Equity, and Access to Health for All. We believe that healthcare information should not be locked behind clinic doors – it should travel to community centres, places of worship, schools, and social clubs.

A Special Thank You

We extend our deepest gratitude to the leadership and members of Pakistan Club Kowloon for hosting us and facilitating this meaningful outreach. Your commitment to the well-being of your community is inspiring.

Thank you also to every family, elder, parent, and young person who stopped by our booth, asked questions, and shared their health stories with us. Your trust is what drives our work forward.
