Outreach During Friday Prayer at Islamic & Community Services Centre, Tin Shui Wai

Outreach During Friday Prayer, 19th September 2025, Islamic & Community Services Centre, Tin Shui Wai

Date: 19th September 2025
Location: Islamic & Community Services Centre, Tin Shui Wai

On 19th September 2025, the Multicultural Health Services (MCHS) team visited the Islamic & Community Services Centre in Tin Shui Wai to conduct health outreach during the weekly Friday Prayer gathering.

Tin Shui Wai is home to a significant multicultural population, and the Islamic & Community Services Centre serves as a vital hub for spiritual, social, and community support. Recognising this, we brought our mobile health services directly to the centre to ensure no one is left behind due to language barriers or geographical distance.

What We Did at Islamic & Community Services Centre, Tin Shui Wai

Our team provided comprehensive, on-the-spot health support:

  • Minor Ailment Service: Free consultations for common health concerns including respiratory infections, allergies, skin conditions, and gastrointestinal issues โ€“ delivered in Urdu, Hindi, and English.
  • Medication Management Counselling: Personalised medication reviews for chronic disease patients, covering medication reconciliation, side-effect management, adherence strategies, and prevention of drug interactions.
  • Preventive Health Education: Workshops and one-on-one discussions on topics such as diabetes prevention, heart health, nutrition, mental well-being, and maternal care โ€“ all tailored to the cultural context of the community.
  • Ambassador Training Introduction: We invited attendees to join our Multicultural Health Education Ambassador Training program, empowering community members to become certified peer health educators.
  • Referral and Follow-up Support: For individuals requiring ongoing care, we provided referrals to appropriate healthcare services and arranged follow-up virtual consultations through our Medi Help telepharmacy service.

Reaching Underserved Communities in Tin Shui Wai

Tin Shui Wai has unique healthcare challenges, including limited access to culturally competent services for ethnic minorities. By partnering with the Islamic & Community Services Centre, MCHS took a meaningful step toward bridging that gap.

This outreach exemplifies our mission: Diversity, Equity, and Access to Health for All.

A Special Thank You

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the management, staff, and congregation of the Islamic & Community Services Centre, Tin Shui Wai, for their warm welcome and seamless cooperation.

Thank you also to every community member who engaged with us, shared their health stories, and trusted us with their care.
