Outreach During Community Health Fair

On 18th May 2025, the team from Multicultural Health Services (MCHS) proudly participated in an impactful Community Health Fair held at Caritas TM Marden Foundation Secondary School.

This outreach event was a vital part of our ongoing mission to bridge healthcare gaps for Hong Kong’s multicultural communities. By bringing our services directly to the heart of the community, we were able to connect with families, elders, and youth who often face language and cultural barriers when accessing mainstream health services.

What We Did at the Fair

Our team provided on-the-spot, culturally sensitive support, focusing on preventive health education and personalised counselling:

• Minor Ailment Service: Community members received free, face-to-face consultations for common issues like colds, allergies, and rashes from our registered pharmacists.
• Medication Management Counselling: For individuals managing chronic diseases such as diabetes and hypertension, we offered medication reviews, side-effect management tips, and drug interaction prevention advice – all delivered in Urdu, Hindi, and English.
• Multilingual Health Education: We distributed translated medication guides and spoke with attendees about maternal care, nutrition, and mental health, ensuring they left with clear, actionable information.
• Ambassador Recruitment: We introduced the Multicultural Health Education Ambassador Training program, inviting interested community members to become peer health educators.

Making Healthcare Equitable and Accessible

Events like this Community Health Fair exemplify the MCHS commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Access to Health for All. By partnering with local schools and community groups, we remove the intimidation of a clinical setting and meet people where they feel safe – in their own neighbourhoods.
